A dream blossoms
My mother is an artist and an avid gardener so I grew up creating and developing a love for flowers from an early age. Some of my fondest childhood memories are going to all kinds of greenhouses with mum to load up on "shrees" (shrubs and trees) and flowers. I can vividly picture certain fragrances and specific blooms that I loved, they are still a part of me all these years later.
I have spent the last several years since moving to beautiful Kimberley from the Creston Valley cultivating my little patch of land in lower Blarchmont with love and lots of perennials. Anyone that knows me well, knows that I am that crazy plant sale lady that will drive anywhere for more foliage, as many of us are. Having a flower truck has been a little seed of a dream tucked away in my heart, inspired by an amazing mobile flower shop in the town where my mum now lives. Cue a world pandemic, job loss, and three months of isolation that provided the space to reassess my priorities and see my little seed dream suddenly burst to life. I am excited to share this quirky flower truck with the Kimberley community delivering primarily locally sourced, seasonal blooms from our own cut flower gardens, local farms, and BC growers to whomever needs a splash of color to brighten their day. I specialize in designing unique bouquets in recycled jars that reflect the season and Kootenay flora.
This is not a typical flower shop, as stock can only be kept in transit from farm to table so to speak. Minimal waste and sustainability are some of our values and so that means that at this time we are only offering Florist Choice deliveries, small weddings or elopements, and subscriptions but we hope to branch out into more options down the road!
The flower truck is a 4 speed collectors edition 1991 Daihatsu Hijet imported from Japan that somehow found its way to the East Kootenays. What it lacks in speed, it makes up for in excellent gas mileage.
If you would like to see the truck in person it will be at the Cranbrook Farmers Market on Saturdays, Kimberley Farmers Markets on Thursday’s, available for events, and occasionally parked at the base of Bootleg!
